DESCRIPTION:  \nIn recent years, hundreds of clinical psychedelic studies have been launched around the world. Countries such as Germany and the Czech Republic have also legalized, for example, psilocybin-assisted therapy for the treatment of depression. Is the growing interest in psychedelic therapies part of a mounting hype bubble, or is the psychedelic renaissance truly taking hold in Finland as well? Come learn more and network around this topic! \n  \nAbout the Speaker: \nAleksi Hupli earned his Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the University of Tampere in 2021. Hupli’s dissertation research focused on the beneficial use of cognition-enhancing substances among students, microdosing of psychedelics, and medical cannabis. A non-fiction book based on his dissertation (“Intelligence from Medicines and Substances? The Beneficial Use of Psychedelics,” Siltala 2024) won the Finnish Association of Science Publishers’ “Science Book of the Year 2024” award. Hupli’s latest non-fiction book is titled *Psychonaut: A Psychedelic Concept Book for the Manifesto of the Mind* (Siltala 2026), in which he explores the psychedelic renaissance. Hupli helped coordinate one of Finland’s clinical research centers in a multicenter study investigating psilocybin-assisted therapy for the treatment of alcoholism. In addition, he is a member of the European Psychedelic Research Network (Psychedelic Renaissance: Turn On, Tune In, and Drop In, PSY-NET), an alternate member of the board of the Finnish Psychedelic Research Association, and a board member of the Association for Humane Substance Use Policy. \nAlso participating in the discussion is Jukka-Pekka Heikkilä, Ph.D. in Economics, who will present his recent article published in the journal *Yhteiskuntapolitiikka* titled “Toward a ‘Corpodelia’? : The New Rise of Psychedelics Requires a New Social Policy Vocabulary.”\n
