DESCRIPTION:Come discover the art of Olga Sophie Kauppinen (@Sullydogstar) at Harjun Mori on Wednesday, June 3, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The art opening will feature paintings by the Helsinki-based visual artist, in which traditional oil painting meets experimental/contemporary artistic expression. Born in 1988, Olga Sophie Kauppinen is an oil painter based in Helsinki whose works constantly navigate the space between figurative and abstract, painting, drawing, and sculptural thinking. Her work is inspired by a thirteen-year career in New York, where she became more closely acquainted with the ideas of contemporary art and the New York School. \nHis practice is based on intuition and a non-linear mode of expression, through which his paintings challenge the boundaries and possibilities of traditional oil painting. At the same time, Kauppinen’s choice of materials reflects a classical approach rooted in a deep exploration and mastery of materials. His work combines, among other things, rabbit-skin glue, charcoal, dry pastels, woodworking techniques, and oil paints. In Kauppinen’s artistic thinking, the rebellious spirit of modernism takes on a form situated in the present.
