Raivo Jackson’s Americana incorporates elements of melancholy and storytelling, coming together to form a Nordic noir-inspired whole. Bittersweetly beautiful yet powerful atmospheric images go hand in hand. The musical palette ranges from country and folk to soul, psychedelia, and rock. On the band’s recently released debut album, *Tangled Up in Roots*, the band’s dynamics, arrangements, and ensemble playing reach a new level. The listener is taken on a journey to examine the world and its people through apocalyptic visions, satire, and the harsh realities of human relationships. Themes include polarization, marginalization, pyromania, and a love for the underwater world. Singer and songwriter Saska captivates the audience with her unique style and clear voice. Lap steel guitarist Jussi brings his acclaimed roots expertise to the mix, guitarist Tommi adds precise and expressive accents to the music, and the rhythm section—composed of Miko and Oto—works intuitively thanks to their long history of playing together.
The Lovematches is a 9-year-old duo from Helsinki. The duo’s music is Americana with country influences—a mix of original and cover songs. Sanna Björkman plays the accordion, frame drum, kazoo, and spoons, while Pasi Rytkönen plays acoustic guitar and foot percussion. At the heart of it all, however, is the couple’s delicate harmonies, which gently break down unnecessary genre boundaries. The Lovematches have released two albums: *Rescue Songs* (2021) and *Hug And Hold All Night Long* (2025).
