Book Event: The Psychedelic Renaissance—A Hype Bubble or a Real Opportunity?

In recent years, hundreds of clinical studies on psychedelics have been launched around the world. Countries such as Germany and the Czech Republic have also legally authorized, for example, psilocybin-assisted therapy for the treatment of depression through legislation. About the speaker:
Aleksi Hupli received his Ph.D. in social sciences from the University of Tampere in 2021. Hupli’s dissertation research focused on the beneficial use of cognitive-enhancing substances among students , microdosing of psychedelics, and medical cannabis. His nonfiction book based on his dissertation (“Intelligence from Medicines and Substances? The Beneficial Use of Consciousness-Altering Substances,” Siltala 2024) won the “Science Book of the Year 2024” award from the Finnish Association of Science Publishers. Hupli’s latest non-fiction book is titled *Psychonaut: A Psychedelic A Conceptual Guide to the Mind’s Manifesto (Siltala 2026), in which he explores the psychedelic renaissance. Hupli helped coordinate one of Finland’s clinical research centers in a multicenter study that investigated psilocybin-assisted therapy for the treatment of alcoholism. In addition, he is a member of the European psychedelic research network (Psychedelic Renaissance: Turn On, Tune In, and Drop In, PSY-NET), a deputy board member of the Psychedelic Research Association, and a Association for Humane Substance Abuse Policy.
